update 03/14/22: i have determined that it's a huge pain to update both versions of the site manually..
i'm sure there's something i could rig using iframes to get everything working smoothly, but i'm still trying to figure that out

update 03/13/22: new layout finished! it looks almost the same, but it grows and shrinks with your screen size! added the link on the landing page ^ ^
now just to figure out auto updating both layouts when i add new content...

update 03/12/22: it looks like i'm about halfway done with the responsive version of the layout! the windows won't be draggable, but if i can figure it out i'm thinking of keeping this version of the site up as an alternate layout.
or i'll probably just end up using the new layout as the simple site mode

• 03/13/22 - internet safety
  
  it seems like nowadays people don't really worry about internet safety, at least, not like they used to.
  
  with the rise of social media etc. people are pretty much required to share personal info all over the place. some even offer up way more then necessary, which i believe to be due to the "social" aspect of social media; they make it feel as though you're talking to a group of friends instead of 1,000,000 strangers (including whatever shady trackers are embedded)
  
  now, while the younger generation probably doesn't even know proper internet safety, it feels like a lot of older users have... given up in a sense. with f*cebook and g*ogle and whatever other megacorporations constantly harvesting your personal information, you get kind of... desensitized? don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that every person on the internet has no regard for internet safety or concern over harvesting of their personal information- i'm certainly guilty of that myself; but it's something i've seen a concerning amount of in my virtual travels.
  
  maybe at a later date i'll add an "internet safety guideline" of sorts here

  i've got a lot of thoughts on menhera.
  for me, i see it as equal parts "aesthetic" in the common sense, and lifestyle.
  most people when hearing "menhera" would think of "creepy cute pastel gore with medical themes" or, heaven forbid, "pastel goth" (side note: my apologies pastel goth appreciators, i've just seen the term used incorrectly too many times) and although menhera can include these themes, it's not what makes it up as a whole.

      i love yume nikki! my favorite npcs are seccom masada, monoko, and shitai-san, my favorite area is the pink sea, and my favorite event is uboa!
      it's nice to open the game every once in a while and just wander, although i usually end up going to the same locations (´ ᵕ `)
      i've played the 3d reimagining "yume nikki -dream diary-" as well, and although it was closer to, say, little nightmares than the original game, i enjoyed the experience.

• horizontally centering an element
  
  adding left:50% and transform:translateX(-50%) to an element with a position other than static (ex. position:absolute) will center it horizonally.
  depending on which position tag you use, it will behave differently:
  position:relative will center it relative to it's parent, so if you center a relatively positioned image inside a div, the image will be in the center of the div.
  position:absolute will center it relative to the screen, it will always appear in the very center, without being pushed by other elements.
  position:fixed behaves almost exactly like position:absolute, except the element will be stuck to the screen, staying in place when you scroll.
  position:sticky switches between position:relative and position:fixed based on scroll position. it's relative until it reaches a specified point on the screen, then becomes fixed until it's before that point again.
